Biography
Carter Wong ( Ka Tat Wong ) Born in 1947, Macao, one of the special administrative regions of the Republic of China, Carter Wong has extensive experience in the world of martial arts. He have begun kung fu at eight years old with a Shaolin monk and Wudang Chi-Kung Grand Master Lee Ming Wah as his teachers. While young, he went to Japan to practice Karate, then he left for Thailand, where he find out and practiced Muay Thai and he'd also a passage through North Korea to train Taekwondo and Hapkido.
In 1968, he'd begun his career as a professional Muay Thai fighter, in which he reached a record of 30 wins, 3 draws and only 4 defeats until 1986, when he'd became muay thai world champion too. Founded in 1980, the Chung Hop Kuen Federation, a martial art style based on Shaolin Kung Fu, Wu Dang Chi Kung (inner breathing) and the essence of Karate, Muay Thai, Taekwondo and Hapkido. Currently the Federation has representatives in 36 countries and has produced several European and world champions in Muay-Thai, Kung Fu and Kickboxing.
Carter Wong's qualification also opened doors in public and private security institutions around the world for Chinese culture and the martial arts. The Grand Master was a Hong Kong Police Force (1979) Karate's Chief Instructor, had instructed as a Muay Thai master to the New York Police Force (1984) and the California Marine Corps (1990) of the United States, had trained soldiers from the Cambodian Security Services Academy and received the title of Grand Master of Karate of the Hungarian Police Force (1998).
Carter Wong had also invested in the acting career and his talent can be seen in more than 100 films. The best known are: "Big Trouble in Little China" (1986); "Shaolin Invincibles" (1977); and "Traitorous" (1976). The Grand Master was also a combat instructor in Rambo III (1988), of Sylvester Stallone, and had gave choreographed fight classes to actors like Matt Damon (known for the character Jason Bourne of the Bourne's sequence) and William Shatner (known worldwide as Captain Kirk of the Star Trek series).
Grandmaster Carter Wong is a Black Belt 10th Dan in Kung Fu by the World Organization of Wushu & Kung Fu Masters, Black Belt 8th Dan by the International Federation of Martial Arts, Black Belt 7th Dan Go-Ju-Ryu Karate-Do Seitokukai and 5th Dan of Taekwondo by The Midwest Taekwon-do Union. Nowadays he is a member of the World Muay Thai Council, honorary chairman of the Hong Kong South and North Martial Art Association and director of the Wu-Chi Dang-Kung Association. He was also a representative memmber of the World Kickboxing Association (1997), vice president of the Wudang Mountain Chi Kung International Style Association (1998) and a memmber of the World Muay Thai Federation (2002) special committee.
